About Izel Ang

Izel Ang's Journey in Jewelry Design

Izel's love for jewelry making began years ago when she discovered a DIY jewelry book at the library. An engineering student with a steady hand and a keen eye for detail, she was immediately captivated by the world of wirework.

Driven by curiosity and a love for experimentation, Izel explored various techniques like stringing, knotting, and working with materials like Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, and gemstones.

In 2005, Izel's passion for sharing her knowledge led her to begin teaching jewelry making workshops in local communities, beading shops, and clubs. Her dedication to education caught the attention of Swarovski Crystals, who invited her to become a certified instructor for their DIY section. In this role, Izel helped students discover new Swarovski styles and collections.

Izel's commitment to teaching continues today. She conducts workshops at various locations, including beading shops, private clubs, art studios, and her own home studio.

Beyond workshops, Izel's creativity shines through her website, www.izelangdesigns.com. Here, you'll find a collection of her original designs alongside commissioned pieces, consignment work, and upcoming workshops.

 About the Materials

Izel uses a mixture of materials that focus on 2 main points : Quality and Price

The main materials used are 14K Gold Filled and 925 Sterling Silver. 14K Gold Plated are occasionally use, and they are stated otherwise.

What is 14K Gold Filled :

A 14K gold fill piece is created by wrapping an actual layer of 14K gold around a jeweler's brass core (typically 90% copper and 10% zinc). By law, that layer of gold has to be 1/20th gold by weight - meaning that if you melt a piece of jewelry down, 5% of what is in the melting pot has to be gold. Because of the materials involved you can always be sure that 14K gold fill is also a nickel free material.

What is 14K Gold Plated :

A gold plated piece is created by dipping a specially prepared metal object into chemical solution. A chemical reaction then occurs so that a very thin layer of gold sticks to the surface of the metal, creating the visual appearance of gold. Because virtually any metal can be plated, there are no guarantees that a 14K gold plated item is nickel free.

What is 925 Sterling Silver :

Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
